Tanners Gulch
Good Morning! At 3am this morning "the sun is shinning" by Bob Marley sounded into a dark cozey bed. I felt like I never actully fell asleep so getting up at the butt crack of dawn wasn't too hard. Zach Grant, John Jammison and I are in a race aginst the sun. Our line choice today is Tanners Gulch; a 3500 ft slide path midway up Little Cottonwood Canyon. The south facing aspect of this sweet line could be deadly if we get there too late in the day and so we start hiking at 4:20am.
After some strait forward up & up, the morning's alpine glow illuminated the amazing place we had climbed into. As we approached the last 50 ft to the top, a windblown cornice blocked our entry. I had the pleasure of digging a 5' trench right up through it. (sorry for the 5 minute white wash guys- haha)
Zach topping out just as the suns rays gleam first light onto the Gulch.
John J. dropping first, after putting in a good chunk of the booter and opening up more of the cornice.
Zach checking off a big line on the hit list!
20 fresh inches in the gulch this past weekend; conditions are GOOD! Me in bliss!
Zach slashes this midline feature. (thanks for keeping us kitted and warm Levetation Project!)
Beautiful Tanners Gulch beyond. Its 8:30am and we are back at the car; just in time for coffee. Might as well go get first chair.
